Introducing
the
cross bank farm
heritage hens

If you're reading this, you're probably holding a box eggs from our farm and for that, we would like to thank you for supporting us and The Rally Point.
Allow us to introduce you to some of the team behind your eggs!
Here at Cross Bank Farm, we only keep & hatch rare & heritage, native British hens (with the exception of Jak!).
We've a lovely team of sixteen ladies and a two strong team of
distinguished gentlemen & keep our flock deliberately
small & our standards high.
Our hens are corn fed & have plenty of safe space to roam.

Jak

Jak is a rescued Warren hen. She's around two years old and holds the lofty title of site foreman when any work is happening around the farm. She stands on equipment, pecks the tools & clucks her approval (or disapproval).
Jak lays lovely pale brown eggs.

clem fandango

Clem Fandango is an Orpington rooster & a valued member of the team. If there's any food on offer, I would like to say he remembers his manners, but sadly he simply doesn't and will have your finger, and probably arm off, to get whatever it is.

Tula

Tula is one of our Cream Legbar hens. Only seven months old and is more flighty than a teenager when "mucking out" is mentioned.
Tula often sports an enviable hairdo and lays pale blue eggs.

dumpling

Dumpling is one of our seven month old, white Cochin hens. Enormous, exceptionally gentle & never far from where the food might appear, She lays pale cream-coloured eggs and is completely untroubled by the world around her.

bartholomew

Raised alongside Henry the turkey, three month old Bart is just finding his voice and happily crows all hours of the day, with the resulting sound being akin to a kazoo being blown with half-baked effort...again...and again...and again...

pickle

Pickle is a seven month old speckled Orpington hen.
Gigantic, impressively fluffy & extremely fond of food, she also enjoys a good stroke and will happily loiter until one is offered. Pickle lays light brown eggs.

betty

Betty is one of our three month old Light Sussex hens. Raised alongside Henry the turkey, Betty is a gentle little soul who loves nothing more than fermented corn for breakfast. She doesn't lay eggs just yet but when she does, they will be large and pale pink.
